Manchester United have reportedly made a last-ditch approach to sign Atletico Madrid stalwart Diego Godin.
The Red Devils have brought Fred, Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant to Old Trafford in recent weeks but Jose Mourinho is desperate to land an accomplished centre-back before the summer transfer window closes.
Harry Maguire, Toby Alderweireld, Jerome Boateng and Yerry Mina are all on United's radar as the deadline encroaches and Atleti's Godin has now emerged a target for the Premier League giants.
According to Sky Sports, United have made a move for Godin and are chasing a deal for the 32-year-old, considered one of the finest defenders on the planet.
It's claimed United have made contact Atletico, with Mourinho determined to bring in one more signing ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.
Mourinho downplayed United's chances of signing another player with just hours remaining of the transfer window.
'I'm not confident, I'm not confident and the market closes today so it is time at least for me to stop thinking about the market because the market will be closed,' the Portuguese said at his Thursday press conference.
'I will have to focus on the players I have in relation to this first couple of matches.
'Maybe three matches because after Spurs there is national team and a couple of weeks to recover people and prepare people better and focus on players available.
'I'm not thinking about that list I give you, I focus on what we have.'
