Olivier Giroud has revealed that he and Eden Hazard have spoken to Nabil Fekir about the possibility of joining Chelsea.
While Fekir, 25, looked certain to complete a move to Liverpool earlier this summer, the midfielder's transfer collapsed after a medical raised concerns over his long-running knee problems.
The Merseyside giants subsequently pulled the plug on a potential deal but it's understood Chelsea have upped their interest in the Frenchman with deadline day encroaching.
Fekir, who is valued at around £53million, was part of Didier Deschamps' World Cup winning squad in Russia and France team-mate Giroud has lifted the lid on his attempts to lure to Lyon star to Stamford Bridge.
'I spoke to him when we were together in the French national team, when his move to Liverpool fell through,' the Chelsea striker told Foot Mercato.
'Then we discussed Chelsea, and I even think that Eden said a couple of words to him.
'We would obviously welcome him, he is a super player, but I don't know if this is something that could happen as the window closes on Thursday.'
Fekir insisted earlier this week that he's 'very happy' at Lyon but refused to rule out the possibility of leaving the club.
'As you can see, I am in Lyon. I am very happy here,' Fekir said.
'But the transfer window is still long and everything goes very quickly in football. We don't know what will happen in the future but I am very happy at Lyon.
'I feel brilliant in this squad. We have very good players, a great atmosphere. We feel good together and I hope that Lyon will have a very good season.'
Jorginho became Chelsea's first signing of the summer when he joined last month but Maurizio Sarri is still looking to land another midfielder before the transfer window closes.
'I think we need something, but maybe only a player,' the Italian said last week.
'We have very good midfielders, but maybe a midfielder with different characteristics would be a good fit.'
