Jose Mourinho was reportedly angry as Anthony Martial left Manchester United's pre-season tour to be with his partner for the birth of their son.
Martial is keen to move on from United following a breakdown in communication with Mourinho last season, but the Frenchman initially joined his team-mates on the club's tour of the United States.
However, the 22-year-old had to leave Los Angeles to join his pregnant girlfriend Melanie Da Cruz in Paris just hours before United's clash with AC Milan on Thursday morning.
According to Telegraph Sport, Mourinho was unhappy about the late notice given and United have not clarified whether Martial asked the Portuguese for permission to leave.
It's unlikely that Martial will fly back to the United States for the remainder of the tour and this is being viewed as a way to manoeuvre a summer exit.
Chelsea and Juventus have been strongly linked with Martial in recent weeks and both clubs will be keeping a close eye on the situation.
Mourinho has confirmed that he is looking to bring in two more signings this summer and it's understood a new winger is high up on his list of priorities ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.
'One thing is what I would like. Another thing is what is going to happen.' Mourinho told ESPN.
Asked how many new players he would like to bring in, Mourinho said: 'I would get two more players.
