Chelsea's hopes of replacing Thibaut Courtois with Leicester City ace Kasper Schmeichel have been dented after Claude Puel claimed the Dane would stay with the Foxes.
Courtois has one year to run on his deal at Stamford Bridge and looks set to join Real Madrid for around £35m after intimating he will not pen a new contract.
Maurizio Sarri is keen to keep the Belgian but Chelsea have been forced into looking for replacements and identified Schmeichel as their number one target.
However, Puel has dampened Chelsea's chances of signing the Denmark international by insisting he will stay at the club.
'I am not troubled about this,' said Puel.
'Of course Kasper is a very important player for us. He had a very strong World Cup. We need Kasper, with his character, his performance and his consistency."
'When asked if Leicester had received any offers for Schmeichel, Puel said: "No. There is no problem with this.
'There is a lot of speculation at this moment, it is normal.'
The Foxes' decision to spend £12m on Liverpool stopper Danny Ward this week only served to increase speculation that Schmeichel could be on his way to Stamford Bridge.
The Blues have looked at Manchester City outcast Joe Hart and have even been linked with a sensational move for former star Petr Cech.
