Ajax manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed the club are interested in re-signing Manchester United defender Daley Blind this summer.
Blind, who joined United in 2014 after he was brought to the club by Louis van Gaal, has been a reliable option at centre-half and left-back during his time at Old Trafford but a lack of first-team opportunities has become a growing concern.
While he started life under Jose Mourinho as a first-team regular he soon slipped out of favour, starting just four Premier League matches last season.
Dutch publication De Telegraaf claimed last week the 28-year-old has made it known to Ajax he is keen on a return to his boyhood club. Ten Hag has now revealed the club are keen to make it happen, although there is still plenty of work to be done.
'He is a player with a lot of experience, in the Premier League and in the Dutch national team,' the Ajax boss said.
'He is a stable personality. Just like the arrival of Dusan Tadic, this also counts as a considerable effort of the club. We are doing everything, but it also depends on other parties.'
One factor that could affect the deal is Ajax's reported interest in Boca Juniors defender Lisandro Magallan. The club have been in talks with the Argentine for several months but, unable to afford both, will have to choose between him and Blind.
'He [Magallan] is still in the picture, but whether he actually arrives is still unclear.
'It will be either one of Magallan or Blind. Both of them do not seem realistic.'
Blind's contract at Old Trafford was due to expire this summer until United activated an option to extend it by a further 12 months. The club are still likely to listen to offers for the Dutchman, however, given his peripheral role in Mourinho's squad.
