Stuttgart will not consider selling Benjamin Pavard this summer but could be willing to work on a deal that will see the France star leave the club next year.
Pavard, 22, has quietly risen to prominence in Germany after leaving Lille in 2016, earning a spot in Didier Deschamps' squad for the World Cup.
While he spent most of the 2017-18 season operating as a centre-half, he has started three of France's four games in Russia at right-back, grabbing the headlines with a stunning strike in the 4-3 victory over Argentina that sealed Les Blues' place in the quarter-finals.
Manchester United are reportedly among the clubs interested in the youngster while Arsenal have already made enquiries into his availability.
Stuttgart's domestic rivals Borussia Dortmund have also been strongly linked with a move but his club are insistent he will remain their player this summer - even if a record bid arrives.
'Benjamin was already the focus of the big clubs as a Bundesliga player,' Stuttgart sporting director Michael Reschke told Stuttgarter Nachrichten. 'That has now increased once again.
'We will definitely not sell Benjamin Pavard this year for €50m. We will do everything to ensure that he plays with us for another year.'
Stuttgart are realistic over their hopes of retaining their player however and an exit is likely to take place next summer.
Reschke suggests the club could hold talks over such a move sooner rather than later, adding: 'We are ready to find a solution for 1 July 2019. With a club that works cleanly and correctly with us.'
A similar arrangement was struck last year between Liverpool and RB Leipzig for Naby Keita, with the midfielder remaining in Germany for one more season before linking up with his new club for the first time on Sunday.
