Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi scores brace on debut for Borussia Dortmund

Michy Batshuayi reminded Chelsea fans of his talents with a brace in his debut game for Borussia Dortmund.

The Belgian signed for Dortmund on loan from Chelsea for the remainder of the season and is a direct replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who joined Arsenal on transfer deadline day.

Dortmund threw Batshuayi straight into the deep end by starting the 24-year-old against FC Cologne on Friday night.

Batshuayi has played second fiddle to Alvaro Morata this season, spending much of the campaign watching from the bench, but the striker should zero signs of rust against Cologne.

It took Batshuayi just 34 minutes to get off the mark for Dortmund and the attacker grabbed his second in the 62nd minute to restore his side's lead.

Batshuayi could have scored a hat-trick, but VAR ruled out a goal in the 44th minute for offside.

Dortmund needed a late winner from another former Blue, Andre Schurrle, as the attacker fired in a goal in the 84th minute.

Batshuayi will return to Chelsea at the end of the season as Antonio Conte and the club are convinced he has a future at a club.

Conte blocked Batshuayi's loan move right up until the final day of the January window as Chelsea searched for a replacement.

Olivier Giroud arrived in a £18million deal from Arsenal and Batshuayi will have further competition for a place at Chelsea when he returns to London.

Batshuayi will be hoping his hotstreak continues with the World Cup taking place in Russia this summer.

Belgium have a host of talented attackers to pick from and Batshuayi will be eager to link up with his Chelsea team-mates Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois at the tournament.
