Edin Dzeko agrees to join Chelsea as Antonio Conte closes in on £44m double deal

Roma ace Edin Dzeko has agreed to complete a move to Chelsea this January, according to reports in Italy.

Antonio Conte is desperate to bring in a back-up striker to support Alvaro Morata for the remainder of the 2017/18 campaign and a number of forwards have been linked with the Premier League champions in recent days.

Chelsea have expressed an interest in Andy Carroll, Peter Crouch and Jamie Vardy but it's understood the Blues are closing in on a deal for former Manchester City star Dzeko.

Chelsea are also keen on signing Dzeko's team-mate at Roma, Emerson Palmieri, and talks over a double deal are set to resume next week.

It's understood the Serie A outfit are demanding a combined fee of around £44million from Chelsea for the duo.

Out-of-favour Michy Batshuayi could complete a loan move in the opposite direction.

Asked about rumours linking Dzeko with Chelsea, the forward's agent Irfan Redzepagic said: 'No, I don't know anything about this. I have no information to that effect.

'Dzeko is already a Roma player, you know that. Look, every time we talk about Dzeko the names of clubs like Chelsea, Chinese clubs, Mexican clubs come up.

'These are just rumours. The truth is that Dzeko wants to stay at Roma.

Have I spoken to Conte or Chelsea? My role means I can't reveal certain transfer market dynamics. I understand the question, but I have a very specific role.

'All I can say is that Conte likes Dzeko. But then who doesn't like Edin?'
