Players of Rivers United have staged a peaceful protest at the Rivers State Government House in Port Harcourt demanding for the payment of their sign-on fees for the 2014/15 season.
The players displayed placards with various inscriptions asking for the government to pay up.
'We don't have pension. Pay us our money', 'Give us what we worked for' were some of the inscriptions.
It should be noted that these monies were owed by the previous administration, before the merger, and during the days of Sharks and Dolphins FC.
The Governor addressed the players personally and promised to look into their demands.
The players led by the club captain Festus Austin thanked the Governor and apologized for their actions.
"We believe the Governor, he is a man of action, and in a few days from now, we will be paid." Festus Austin told www.90minutesgoal.com Rivers United barely escaped relegation this past season after they finished runners-up the previous term.elw
