Three suspects were on Wednesday tried before a Badagry Chief Magistrates' Court, for alleged possession of six wraps of marijuana.
The accused persons: Chinonso Izueke, Oyam Raphael and Omokpia Ogbemudia are facing one-count charge of unlawful possession of marijuana.
The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Akpan Ikem, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Nov. 29 at Marina area of Badagry, Lagos State.
He explained that the accused persons were apprehended by security guards while smoking marijuana at a bar, "After searching them, six wraps of weed were found on them and they were handed over to the police," he said.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 5 (1) (b) Cap. of the Indian Hemp Act, Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
However, the accused persons pleaded not guilty to the offence.
The chief magistrate, Mr Jimoh Adefioye, subsequently granted each of the accused persons bail in the sum of N100,000 and three sureties in like sum.
Adefioye adjourned the case to Jan. 17 for further hearing.
