Frank de Boer sacked as Crystal Palace manager after only 5 Games in Charge

Frank de Boer has been sacked as manager of Crystal Palace.

The Dutchman, who took over at Selhurst Park back in June, lost all four of his opening Premier League matches in charge of Palace, with his side failing to score a single goal.

De Boer's future appeared in serious doubt as Palace slumped to a 1-0 defeat away at Burnley on Sunday and the Eagles have now announced the 47-year-old's departure.

Asked about speculation surrounding his future after this weekend's defeat, De Boer said: 'I'm focusing on what I can control and that was this.

'I will probably speak to Steve [Parish] on the phone tonight as we normally do, and I meet with him in the week.'

'All I can do is work hard with the boys and I will do that until the end, and hopefully that will be a long time.'

Metro UK understands that ex-England and Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson has been offered a two-year deal to succeed De Boer and is set to be unveiled this week.

Sam Allardyce was approached over the role but the ex-Palace manager turned down his former club's advances.
