Floyd Mayweather defeated Conor McGregor via technical knockout in the tenth round, to the surprise of almost no one.
However, when the Irishman took the first couple of rounds and looked like he had the power to trouble Money Mayweather, a lot of people sat up and took notice.
Ultimately, McGregor was not truly knocked out and he went further than plenty of other fighters have with Mayweather, regardless of the fact that the undefeated boxer is now 40-years-old.
Fatigue is what killed McGregor's chances more than anything else and by the time Mayweather managed to stop the fight, he was essentially putting the Notorious out of his misery.
With all the antics before the fight - mostly just to draw interest - many thought there would be plenty of bad blood between the two when they finally got into the ring, so what was said after the bout?
Mayweather revealed what the pair said after the fight: "We talked about that he's a tough competitor and I think we gave the fans what they wanted to see. I told him I owe them [the fans] for the Pacquiao fight, I must come straight ahead and give them a show and that's what I gave him.
"He's a lot better than I thought he was. He used different angles, he's a tough competitor, but I was the better man tonight."
Contrary to the result, just 10 days ago McGregor was predicting something very different. He predicted he would finish the former five-weight world champion in four rounds.
"(But) part of me is hoping that maybe he can last ... part of me wants to show some skill and to dismantle him," McGregor said. "We are ready for absolutely every scenario. I am ready to go to war for the full 12 rounds and I'm ready to put him away in the first 10 seconds."
He added: "I'm just looking forward to August 26 and proving what I'm saying and educating the world of what martial arts is and giving the fans and everybody a good solid fight and earning my respect in this game also.
