GEJ Reminds Nigerians About His 2014 Statement on Freedom of Speech as Military Plan to Monitor Social Media

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has taken to his verified Facebook page to post a statement he made in 2014 in which he declared that no other president in the whole world has ever been insulted as he had been, as he never did anything to stop people from airing their opinions.

The Otuoke, Bayelsa state-born influential politician and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party's reaction is coming in the wake of Nigerian military's plan to monitor hate statements and social media activities by Nigerians.

Recall that TORI News had reported on Wednesday that the Director of Defence Information, Major-General John Enenche, told Channels Television that it became necessary to monitor social media activities of people in the light of troubling activities and misinformation capable of jeopardizing the unity of the country.

His comments come less than 48 hours after President Muhammadu Buhari said in his national broadcast that some of the discussion on social media in his absence crossed the line and left him distressed.
