Members of the Kaduna State Traffic Law Enforcement Agency (KASTELEA) on Wednesday barely escaped mob action after they reportedly caused an accident in Kaduna state.
One of the motorcycles was burnt to ashes at the Katsina Road Round by the irate mob, acording to New Nigerian.
An eye witness who spoke at the scene of the incident said; "Some KASTELEA officials were chasing a commercial tricycle popularly called Keke Napep before the Round -About and as the Keke NAPEP man was trying to negotiate the Round -About, he fell down and two of the passenger's legs got broken and they were been carried away to the hospital by the officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps," he said.
He explained further that, "after the accident, the KASTELEA officials were trying to escape with their motorcycle and the youth around pursued them and started beating them and they all escaped from the scene of the accident and the youth burnt their motorbike in anger."
It was gathered that less than an hour after the incident, top officials of the agency re-enforced to the scene to ascertain what truly happened and to know the level of the causality at the scene.
Speaking to newsmen, Simon Bivan, Corps Marshal Assistant of the KASTLEA said: "it is a pity that our officials are now target of the hoodlums in the course of carrying out their social responsibility."
Although one of the affected officials of the agency who also spoke to our reporter said: "We discovered an accident after a Keke Napep carrying passengers drove wrongly, which led to the accident, and we rushed down to the scene to rescue the victims and somebody from no where came to attack us and later youth gathered and resulted to burning our motorcycle to ashes."
