Two prostitutes identified as Ijeoma Obia Ijie and Joy Okeke have been arrested and detained by the Cross River State Police Command.
Daily Post reports that the two ladies were nabbed for allegedly recruiting a teenage girl, Amanda Nwambe from neighbouring Ebonyi State into prostitution.
Amanda was allegedly taken from her village in Ebonyi state and brought to Calabar by one Chinoso, who told her she was going to work in a restaurant in Calabar.
On arrival in Calabar, Chinoso reportedly handed her over to the sex workers at a hotel.
The Cross River State Police Commissioner, Hafix Inuwa, who paraded the two women, said the girl, "was forced to work as a sex worker by these women and after three weeks when the pain became too much she ran away from the hotel and a good Nigerian, who found her roaming the streets and brought her to us."
The CP further explained that the two women were arrested in the hotel where they were working as sex workers after the fifteen year old girl identified them and were brought to the station.
He added, "The man, Chinonso, who tricked her from her parent's home in Ebonyi state that she was coming to Calabar to work in a restaurant, is still at large but the women will soon appear in court."
Inuwa said Amanda will be returned to her parents in Ebonyi state.
