A radio presenter, Oriyomi Hamzat, was on Tuesday arraigned before a Magistrates' court sitting in Iyaganku, Ibadan, Oyo State, for the alleged murder of a 17-year-old boy.
The defendant was said to have been arrested by the police after the body of the victim was found in his car. It was also gathered that the deceased was an orphan being raised in an unregistered orphanage home, allegedly belonging to the suspect.
Also arraigned in connection with the murder were Idowu Ibrahim, 27; Mohammed Bashir, 31; Taiwo Olaronke, 23; and Yusuff Ajisafe, 23.
According to the charge sheet, with number mi/1248c/201, the five suspects were arraigned on two counts of conspiracy and murder. The prosecutor, Sunday Fatola, told the court that Hamzat and others on July 21, 2017, at about 4am, in the Oremeji Agugu area of Ibadan, conspired together to commit murder.
He explained that the suspects unlawfully caused the death of the victim by inflicting an injury on his head and body.
The magistrate, A. A. Adebisi, ordered that the accused be remanded in the Agodi Prison pending the release of legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.
The matter was adjourned till September 5, 2017.
