Ex-Convicts Arrested In Bauchi For Theft, Murder

The police in Bauchi State have arrested two suspects - Kamalu Mohammed and Tijani Musa - who allegedly specialised in strangling motorcycle riders in parts of the state, before stealing their motorcycles.

Also arrested was a suspected notorious receiver of stolen motorcycles, one 35-year-old Abubakar Umar, who lived in Turum Ward in Bauchi town.

Punch correspondent learnt that Kamalu, 27, and 23-year-old Musa, who were ex-convicts, were arrested by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad last Wednesday.

Exhibits such as a knife, three master keys, vandalised parts of motorcycles and one cable wire were reportedly recovered from the suspects.


According to the police, two stolen Haojue motorcycles were also recovered from the suspects.

The Bauchi State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kamal Abubakar, said the suspects would be charged to court at the end of investigation.

He said, "To checkmate cases of motorcycle theft, the SARS organised a search party and arrested the suspects who specialised in strangling their victims to rob them of their motorcycles.

"Both suspects, who are ex-convicts, are wanted in connection with numerous cases of motorcycle theft. The case is under investigation and the suspects will be charged to court soon."
