Police Parade 200 Suspected Criminals In Rivers State

The Rivers State commissioner of Police, Zaki Ahmed Muhammed last weekend paraded over 200 suspected criminals, who have been terrorising residents of the state.

This is even as he​ has called on community leaders in the state to assist the Nigerian Police in fishing out criminals in their communities.

Parading the suspect, who include kidnappers, cultists and car snatchers at the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS headquarters, Rukpokwu, Port Harcourt, Muhammed, said they were arrested between June and July this year.

He said, "I am happy to have you here to share some modest achievements of the command which wàs recorded between June and today. As you all know, in recent times the state has witnessed some pockets of cult activities. To tackle the menace the command deployed adequate crime control measures, which has paid off.

"The command's Tactical team and PMF raided criminal hideouts at Egbeda, Rumudiaga, Emerelu and Elele communities within Emohua and Ikwerre local government areas of the state which have been flashpoints for cold blooded murder and other heinous crimes.

"About 200 suspects have been arrested in this exercise and the following arms and ammunition were recovered. AK47, 4, English pistol, 5, one pump action, one English double barrel, 20 locally made pistols, 3 locally made single barrel gun, 143 7.6mm live ammunition, 300 live cartridges, magazines and several charms were recovered from the suspects.
