The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released a timetable and schedule of activities for the recall of Senator Dino Melaye, representing the Kogi West Senatorial District.
According to the timetable, the first step in the recall process, the notice of verification, will be held on July 10. The verification exercise will determine the validity of the voters who signed a petition demanding the recall of Mr. Melaye.
The timetable shows that July 31 will be the last day verification observers can submit their applications, while August 10 will be the deadline for submitting the names of verification agents.
The verification exercise will hold on August 19, and the results of the exercise will be announced the same day.
It would be recalled that Kogi West voters signed a petition urging INEC to recall Mr. Melaye from the Nigerian Senate. On June 22, INEC announced that it had received the petitions and would commence the verification exercise.
