Female Tourists Outrage Rome Locals By Stripping & Jumping Into A 400-Year-Old Historical Fountain

Locals in Rome have vented their fury after three tourists were pictured stripping off and hopping into a historical fountain. The women jumped into the Fontana dell'Acqua Paola in their bikinis in a bid to cool down this week, but were caught on camera.

Their lack of respect for the 400-year-old monument led one local magazine to write: "It is very hot but the fountain of the Janiculum can not become a pool... Rome deserves more respect!"

The city is seeing temperatures of 32C this summer, and the image sparked fury online.
One wrote on Twitter: "These [women] are so rude."

One said on Twitter: "These young girls are giving meaning to ancient remains that are generally ignored!"
