MySQL query for "songs by artiste"

Gerardcole(and other web developers) I'll be happy if u can help with this.. I've been thinking of how to query my DB to give me list songs done by an artiste + songs in whch that same artiste is featured..assuming in music table I have 2 fields among other fields called "artiste"(that holds name of artistes) and also "featured"(that holds name(s) of featured artistes)...I hope you all understand,if you don't,let me know so I can rephrase the question. Thanx as you help.
